Q: Do we run for the whole hour?
A: No way! We do skill work the majority of the time then a small workout at the end of class. Additionally you'll get an at-home workout each week that you can do with friends over the weekend. 
Q: What if I've never run a mile in my life?
A: Then this class is for you! Just like all of our other classes here at CrossFit Hermitage, we adjust for ALL skill levels; we put emphasis on form over speed. 
Q: I hate running. Why should I sign up for the #RunCFH class?
A: Tackle your weakness. Running requires a mindset shift, which is just one of the many things we work on during the 6 week cycle. You'll have plenty of things to think about & keep your mind busy that you'll forget you hate it. ;-)
Q: I can already run. Should I take the run class?
A: Do you experience pain when you run? Do your legs feel heavy? Do you take a long time to recover? Have you ever actually been taught proper running form?
Q: What can I expect in the run class?
A: I believe in teaching you the *why* of proper form so you understand the flow of body movement. You will learn how to be an efficient and injury-free runner who knows how to use gravity to your advantage. Not only do we work on form, but we also work on pacing, breathing and how to recover during a run. If you come to every class and do the homework, you WILL get faster.

WOW! Our first weekend of this year's CrossFit Open is in the books, and if you weren't there on Saturday you missed out on some great, great times! All four teams brought an amazing amount of spirit, hard work, passion, and energy...and reminded us why we are so proud to be part of this awesome community.

Alexie Smith, Mike Hobkirk, Manda Patrick, and Amanda Fox scored bonus points for their respective teams by placing FIRST in the workouts. Chris Shepard, Michael Bergmann, Andy Gwinn, Taylor Greene, and Xan Key snagged extra points for bringing some CFH friends & family to help cheer them on. Team "Frantastic Thruster Booster Five" captured the spirit points for the week for their support of each other online + in the gym. After all the points were tallied, the SPIRIT CUP trophy went home with team "Chalk Monkeys" for even more decoration & craziness. 

Be sure YOU swing by this Saturday to say hello, help us cheer, and see what the fuss is all about. You could even help your friend's team earn extra points just by being here. Guaranteed good times!

Meet Gina Furrey. She's about to hit her 1-year CrossFit-aversary with us and we love seeing the changes she's made in her life since joining us. In her own words... "I came from a very athletic background and I'm a coach today. I felt like something was missing because I wasn't training for an event or being with a team. I joined CrossFit Hermitage almost a year ago and it has been the BEST experience I could ever ask for! The coaches are phenomenal and are very knowledgeable. They even sent me a card when a family member passed away - you can't get that from any other gym or box. I've now lost 19 pounds, gained many new friends, and am excited to compete in my first competition in a few weeks. I am so thankful I took the leap and joined CrossFit Hermitage."

Today's KUDOS go out to Alexie Smith for getting his first Muscle Up over the weekend, too! We love seeing everyone CRUSH their goals (so if you haven't talked to your coach about *your* specific goals yet....hop on it).

Today is OPEN GYM from 6-11am & 5-7:30pm! We'll have a few workout options on the board, but you're welcome to create a game plan and work on your own skills/drills, make up a missed lift, hit a benchmark workout, re-do an old Open workout, whatever you need. We'll be there for ya.

I want to introduce you guys to Joseph Agostini. Joe and his wife, Chandra, joined us about 6 months ago. In his own words...."High blood pressure runs in my family and I have been taking medicine to lower it for over 15 years. Even with medicine, my own blood pressure was very high. I went to the doctor yesterday and to my surprise my blood pressure was 112/79! My doctor says I no longer need to take any medication for my blood pressure! I attribute this to attending CrossFit Hermitage for the last 6 months along with learning how to change my diet (Paleo esque). I want to [the coaches] who continue to work and push me each and every class. I'm excited to see where I will be in another 6 months."
